I thought all tachs are electric??
What year is the truck it is going in to? Chances are you won't need to do anything, the stock gauges should work.
Edit: Looked at one of your old posts. Truck is a 95 2.2. The tach will work just fine, you don't need to do anything.

my S10 is a 1994 2.2 originally...and the tach worked without any problems...is very accurate...so you shouldnt have any worries. All you have to do is tie the tach wire into the white tach wire origianlly in the truck...even if the truck originally didnt have a tach cluster, you can switch to one cause all the tach wiring is still there.
