Default oil pressure sensor help

Hey guys! This is my first time posting on this site. I just did a search to find out what people are doing for oil pressure sensors when not using the stock gauges. I didn't find exactly what I was hoping to find. So, want to drill and tap into the piece directly above the oil filter for the gauge. I am using the stock manifolds on my both of my 5.3L projects. Can someone give me a part number for a sensor that will clear? Also, what gauge will work here? I want to use all electronic Autometer gauges; does anyone have a part number for a gauge that will read correctly with the sensor? Thanks.

If you're not using the stock sensor at the rear of the block you can use that port. All you need is a 16mmx1.5 to 1/8 adapter. AutoMeter #2268

If you going to use autometer gauges you should be using the sender that autometer specs for that gauge.

like they said, they make an adapter to thread the autometer sending unit to the stock hole. The problem is that you can't get your intake back on because the gauge sender is too big. The solution I did is to screw the sender in all the way tight, grab a pair of pliars, cross your fingers and bend it ever so slightly, just enough to get your intake back on. You could also drill and tap the hole you are speaking of on the side plate, stick a drill down the hole to open it up, a 1/4" npt tap should do the job on the hole, then get a 1/4" npt to 1/8" npt adapter for 50 cents at napa and you're good to go on the autometer sender.

Ok thanks guys that’s what I needed to know. BTW I also I am doing the same thing but with a 6.0L. I really haven’t studied the motor too much to compare it to the 5.3L. Will the sender that Autometer supplies with the gauge clear the stock manifolds on the 6.0L also? Thanks
