If I remember ... most GM car of these years. the hot for the fuse box which power most of the car and harness.. is connected to the Horn relay with is in turn connected to the Battery/Charging system.
Suggest you run down to the Library and look in some of the older Motor and other reference manuals for the car/year or ask around if anyone has the correct manual or wiring charts.

My LS1 came with the battery cables attached still. The cable ran from the alt. (left side) to the battery (right side), but there was a section that branched off by the alternator that originally ran to a fuse, relay box. I connected that directly to my horn relay. Hope this helps. Mike

thanks for the tip on the horn relay. i came across this schematic on another forum and it it just what i needed. now i can get rid of some of the 1969 wiring and i now know what it all connects to. hope it might be able to help some one else since this is such a popular conversion...

honestly, i ripped my firstgen harness out completely and put in an aftermarket, it made things so so much easier and i didn't have to deal with 30 year old wires when i was done. Its worth the extra effort.
