Default Track Performance!

Just got back from the track from the first runs with the LS1. Stock LS1, pacesetters, K&N filter, stock 4L60, 3.08's and it went 13.1@106.4 with a 2.2 60 ft. Not too shabby at all! Still on the factory tune as well.

Car weighed in at 3440 without me in it with ~3/4 of a tank of fuel.

at 3440 lbs, and a 2.2 60' time, those are very good numbers. Congrats. Now you need some traction. What tires are you running in the rear?

Just some cheap Sumitomo 255/45/17's. There was zero track prep.

I thought thered be a little bit more interest in the performance of a swapped car, as noone really had any numbers when I was asking a few months ago.

Oh, and that 3440 is without me. Race weight is 3620!

Good to see you posting some quick times. Are you happy with it or are you going to do some mods to make it faster? I didn't get to run mine at the track yet but I did run it 0-60 on my G-tech and got a 4.8 twice. I'm running 245/50-15's and I'm looking for some drag radials to stop the spinning.

Good luck with your car,

Bill

Hey those are good numbers and encouraging to me. My car is 3420 without me and our set ups are similar. I expect similar traction problems. I will be happy with a low 13, high 12 number. Good luck heading deep into the 12s.

Nice to see. I am hoping my H/C car will be low 12's.

my kit car project should be around 2090lbs so hoping a stock motor will suffice :-)

The car is my daily driver, and a lot of the motivation for the swap was the fuel milage. I might eventually throw in a mild cam, but if I can get it to hook and run a 12.70, I may just leave it until any of my local buddies get to be quicker than I am.

Stu, take it out to Sacramento man!

What type of RPM at the end of the quarter? I have a 4:11 gear and am not too sure where I will be. How tall are your tires?

That is definitely not too shabby for a daily driver, expecialy one that gets good fuel mileage!

I need to do something with my rear suspension before taking it to the track. The 50 year old leaf springs just can't handle the LS1 torque. This winter's project is to solve that. I will surely make a trip out there next spring.

I have no idea what the revs were, definetly low though in 3rd. Figure converter slip is what, maybe 8%? Tires are 255/40/17's...

According to my calcs, with 255/40/17's and 3.08 diff, 106.4 mph occurs at 4403 rpm in 3rd gear.

This is for a 4L60E in third gear, ratio of 1.00:1. That does not include any torque converter slip as I don't know the numbers for that, but it does give you an idea of where you are.

FYI, 6000 rpm in fourth is 208 mph if you can get there!!

Very nice times! Very encouraging for me since I've got a stock LS2, built 4l60e with a vigilante converter and 3.90 gears with about the same race weight.

Yep, definetly shallow in 3rd gear, could get some more MPH out of it I bet if I swapped gears and got 3rd gear into its powerband.

That LS2 should scoot! Post some times when its done, I wish more pople would.

I haven't had the chance to get mine to the track yet, but I expect similar #'s. As soon as the weather is better here and I can get it there, I will post up some video and times.

Sweet looking project man, glad to see it worked out well for you.

Scattered pics in the PY post, and a bit of pics from my drive to Tucson last year on my buddies page.

BTW, got 23.3 MPG coming home fropm the track last night following my dads Z06. He said he lost .7 MPG over the altamont and another 1MPG just coming through town before we got home. Assuming my car is similar, that puts it right at 25MPG freeway. Not too bad.
