Default V6 to V8 Camaro

Hi guys, great site here. Im itching to get into the world of the LS1. Right now Im able to possibly get ahold of a 99 V6 A4 Camaro as well as a V8 M6 powertrain to swap in. What are your thoughts on this?
I have messed with older cars for years now. But the only experience I have with newer computer controlled vehicles is my 97 Tahoe that I rebuilt the motor, and put a mild cam and headers on.
I have searched and read on the auto to manual swaps as well as lots on the ins and outs of the LS1. I guess my question is are there any issues that would come with swapping in the V8 and computer etc? Thanks.

just go buy a ls1 car, its pretty costly and a big pita to do...

Not for sure if this will help or not. but anyways. I did a LS1 M-6 into a 94' Camaro LT1 auto. It wasn't to bad of a job, and not to bad of pricing. If you shop around and find some deals on here. For me I had to get a pedal assembly, do some work on the floor board for the tranny to fit. Changed to LS1 k-member and steering rack, bolts right up, A PCM, 6-speed shift plate, and I had to get a wiring harness to fit that style of car.

if you can get the 99 car for about 3k its worth it.. otherwise an LS1 car is better..

looking into 93-97 camaros is a good option also, you can get a roller for like 500 bucks

I hadnt really thought about the earlier models. I will have to throw that into the equation. The more I think about it if I factor in my time worth anything it may be worth shopping around and finding a V8 already. Ill be sure to look into some 93-97s. Thanks for the input. Any other info anyone adds will be appreciated as well.

Did you have to swap the gas tank out when you did this swap? I'm currently doing the SAME exact thing. I have a '97 Trans Am with a blown LT1 and I just purchased a 6.0 Liter LQ4 engine that i'm going to put in the T/A. A guy from Trans Am Creations was telling me I had to swap out the gas tank, fuel lines, the dash wiring harness to get the guages to work, etc.

I had the engine harness re-done by Speartech, I kept my gas tank, and the fuel lines. Just stepped up in pumps, blocked off my return line, and bought a aeromtive fuel regulator.

Hey, not to Hi-jack Matthew, but i'm a nooB here too and the reason I came is because I want to do the LSx swap into my '94 Camaro A4. I know it would be easier to buy a V8 car, but I already have this V6 car, had it since I was 16 so would like to keep it, and honestly cost factor is still less than trying to buy another car, so any info for the OP except trans swap stuff is of great benefit to me too.
