I read on Hinsons site that the LS1 and T-56 weigh 128lbs less than the stock engine and tranny. But everywhere else I read the LS1 tranny combo weighs 100lbs more than stock stuff. Which is correct.
Here is the text from hinsons site.
"The aluminum GM LS1 and LS6 engines are extremely light power plants. With the complete removal of the KA engine and transmission, the project car's final weight is less than the total gross vehicle weight of a stock Nissan 240SX. The LS1 T56 combo is 128 pounds lighter than the KA four cylinder it replaces. "
Thanks

That makes sense but does the KA auto really weigh roughly 230lbs more than the 5-spd. Is the auto tranny really that much heavier. Either I am doing the match wrong or my info is wrong. Cause I was told the stock 5-spd weighs 95 lbs so does a KA auto weigh 325lbs roughly.

The LS1 T56 combo (out of a '00 WS6) that I am putting into my '91 S13 weighed 596 lbs. That was with no exhuast bolted up to it, the wiring harness still on it, 10 quarts of oil (6 in the motor and 4 in the tranny), and no AC on it and it might of even had the alternator removed at that point as well.
The KA24 and 5 spd combo I pulled with everything on it except for exhaust, no oil in the tranny and oil still in the motor weighed 496 lbs. When I took the tranny off when I sold the engine and transmission to somebody the tranny weighed in at 95 lbs. With that said, the KA engine weighs around 400 lbs. I have not been able to weigh the KA's auto tranny personally so I can't say what it weighs.
HTH!

Yeah.. I tell you. .that T56 is a heavy one.. I knew it had to weight in at over 125 Lbs.. I once lifted mien up into place while I was on my back.. I bought one of those cheap Trans jack after that.. LOL !
A full dress LS1 does weight in at about 450 lbs..
What you gain in weight will be more than made up in TQ and HP. And it will be more streetable than the S13 putting out the same Power.
keep us posted. !
