the rwd focuses suck, they cant hook worth a damn. I think it was car and driver or road and track said that they got better quarter mile times by stuffing the 3 biggest guys they could get in the back seat and launching that way.

yes, the car sucks. short wheelbase does for drag racing.
enough tuning, you can make anything haul *** without having to "haul ***"

So is an 8.8" axle ...


With the right tyres and setup a rwd Focus should hook ok.

Ive seen one here in the UK, with a crappy IRS, and 2.0 turbo Sierra Cosworth engine run in the 10's on BFG DR's

8.8 is stronger than anything youll ever need for that light car.
9" would be a huge disadvantage, both for power and weight, IMO.

ls1 motor should fit. They put a 03/04 cobra motor in that car and the ls1 isn't as side. I'd love a rwd focus, I had a 04 focus before, loved the style and the way the car drove for the price. Then making it rwd with some actual power could only be better.

several hundred dollar diffrence. 9 inch takes more hp. someone said here that you dont even have to narrow the 8.8. 8.8s are really strong rear ends. that car isnt going to break even a stock 8.8. 9 inch is heavier. you can find 8.8s under any mustang. tons of brake options that are cheap. etc

an 8.8 is very strong. I know many people runs 8's with them. no need to run a 9 inch expecially in such a light car that will probably never hook anyway

If you wanna save some money and still go fast a someone I know is selling their SBF focus for 10K. Somebody posted a video of it earlier in this thread its the Blue one goes by ZX351. Still not as cool as an LS1 though.

I would still prefer an LS1 in a Camaro or better yet, in a Trans Am instead of a Focus....

Its interesting that a "ford engineer" was throwing rocks at the Kugel kit, yet they sell it in the FRPP catalog.
