Default Tranny Cooler ?'s

Seeing how my car is going to be a summer only car... Do I HAVE to run my tranny lines into the rad or can I just go straight to a external cooler? or should I put the cooler after the fluid goes into the rad?

Every thread I have read on this subject says to bypass the radiator cooler and the trans temps will drop.
Only problem I can see is in rush-hour traffic with no fan on it.
Your car looks very nice btw.

When I had the fluid go through the radiator my temps were super high. Then I switched to a perma cool external cooler with a 900cfm fan and the drop in temps was noticeable in stop and go traffic.

I am using one of those finned aluminum cylindrical units that has both connections on one end making it a double pass through. No connection to the radiator. I have it mounted on the frame rail next to the transmission. So far so good. Initially I had a conventional flat type cooler and I did have problems with that over heating on long uphill pulls.

Off topic, but you get some new wheels? What size spacers are you running? Looks good.

Stealth, Yea I bought some 03 Z06 OEM Vette wheels. 18x10.5 in the rear and 17x9.5 up front. I will eventually do the 18x10.5 all around but not this summer. I will be running a 2" hub-centric spacer in the rear and 2.125" hub-centric adapter in the front.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I'm gonna bypass the rad and use a seperate cooler with a fan.
