Default Did I order the wrong k-member? MUSTANG

I just ordered my k-member. I have a 95 but I ordered the 86-93 4.6 k-member. Is this correct or should I have ordered the 96-98 k member? Need to know asap so I can call Jegs if I messed up.

I don't know for sure...but it seems like the 96-98 4.6 K-member would be the ideal part, seeing as the chassis is the same.

Call some place like Maximum Motorsports or Griggs Racing. They do all the Mustang suspension stuff. My guess is that you want the 96-98 version since it will increase the wheelbase a little bit over the 87-93 version. You can get away with putting a 96-98 version in a fox car but it's tight on clearance on the wheel openings due to the increased wheelbase.

The guy at AJE said I ordered the wrong one and they already shipped it so I have to ship it back and then pay shipping again for the other one. This sucks.

Just curious, but do you know how much it increases the wheelbase?

I think it's like 1 to 1-1/2 inches. Plus Maximum and Griggs both make offset A-arms to increase it to 2 or 2-1/2 inches. You have to do some pretty major grinding and cutting of the front fenders to accomplish that (even more so on 87-90 cars). I think only their race cars runs the offset A-arms. But for the race guys who are looking to get as close as possible to a 50/50 weight balance, they'll try anything they can.

By increasing wheel base, you mean front to back??

I have a 96+ 4.6L D&D Tubular K-member in my 90 LX for the LS1 and I didnt notice the wheelbase change. What did I not notice (I've had skinnies on it since I put it in, so maybe I didnt see something)

Yes, the distance from the front wheel to the back wheel. Maybe the D&D K-member keeps the same pick-up points for the A-arms regardless if its a Fox or SN95 car. I'm not sure.

Yup, your front wheels will move backwards with the K-member you ordered, and your steering shaft will probably be too long.

Man that sucks. Just because now I have to wait longer and pay shipping both ways.
