Drive by wire + 98 harness
Does anyone know if it's possible to actuate a DBW pedal with a 98 PCM/Harness (obviously with the addition of the TAC module and necessary pedal)? It's that or a Holley/NW T/B for my L76 intake, and the DBW setup is quite a bit cheaper, if a little more technically complicated.
Thanks-
I`ve never tried it, but my guess is that you would need to update to a 99+ computer in order to control the DBW. Updating to a 99+ computer with a 98 harness means repinning like all but 5 of the wires on the PCM connectors, plus you would still have to add in the wires for the DBW pedal and TAC.
Its not that it couldn`t be done, I`m sure you could do it, but I think it would be a lot of work.
I didn't know if the DBW was a seperate circuit with a controller. i.e. a cable from the throttle to a box, that also plugged into IAC/TPS. Sounds like it's fully integrated into the PCM. Screw that, I'll buy a Holley, it has more hood clearance anyway.
