Default z06 trans and rear end swap

to use a z06 transmission from a 02 vette in an s10 i believe i have figured out through searching that i would need to use the z06 independant rear end and i would have to use a torque tube to hook it all up to a motor. does this sound right? now if so would the torque tube bolt up to any lsx engine? how about sb350's? Correct my understanding of the z06 drive line if you could. it would go engine---torque tube---trans---independant rear. trying to gather information this crap is confusing.

you could make it work.. there might be one bolt that would be out of place on the back of the block, but thats it.

the issues would come with not how to hook the tube up, but how to attatch the driveline to the motor IMO.

i dont understand the driveline too much, shouldnt it bolt up to and ls1? being it was from and ls6 i believe. would i have to go that route with the torque tube, the transmission is all the way in the back with the rear end, correct?

It will bolt to any ls based engine. But for an s10 is worth all of the damm hassle? It'd be cool don't get wrong not knockin you it would be kick *** when done but that torque tube is a whole nother can of worms.

haha that ***** wierd, never looked under any vettes. it sounds hard from what i am gathering, i wanted to do an irs anyways so if its a good deal its worth a shot. i'll wait to see what happens. can the torque tube be shortened? thanks for everyones input, it would definatly be easier to get a manual trans out of an f body.

Short is easy, $500.00 longer gets really expensive

your best bet would be to get a whole driveline and put it under your S10. on ebay you can get complete corvette chasis for 10-25,000

Call this guy and tell him your serious, he'll get you just what you need.

You should look into a C4 (84-96) Dana 44, It should be a bolt in and you could pick one up for 500-2500 depending what your looking for. The Dana 44 is beefy but if you drop the hammer on it real hard with a lot of horse power, it will brake,

Corvettes are not drag car!

You will need to find a way to lengthen the torque tube also. The engine in an S-10 is set further forward and further away from the rearend than a Vette.

To lengthen one is the same as shorting it with 2 more things to weld, and you have to by some expensive aluminum tubing. I'm doing a C5 Auto Converted to a C6 Z06 brakes and LS7 under a 57 Chevy Convertible and same thing 115 inch wheel base, and unlike the corvettes the motor is up between the front tires not behind them so that makes the tube even longer almost 11 inches I think.
