I thought I was the first to do this swap, but now I see I'm not. So, are either of you planning to sell swap kits?
The stock 300ZX differential assembly and axle shafts are strong enough until your 60-foot times get to the 1.6 second range. I'm also going 4L60E. Which oil pan did you use? And which exhaust manifolds?

Damn I was hoping to at least get my 5.3L in my Z before anyone came along and stole all my glory lol. Well looks like a great build man. I currently own 2 86 300zx!

Oh and to let you know Im doing the same exact swap into an 86 300zx, but I'm going with a t56 and the turbo Im going with is the Borg Warner s475 83mm turbo.

If anyone needs any help also I can help also! and just to let everyone know now there are about a total of 6-7 z31 owners doing this swap now!

Another thing the best oil pan to use for this swap is the Auto Kraft oil pan as it does not sit lower than the stock crossmember and allows you to sit the engine as low as possible and as far back as possible without oil pan modificaion!

One last thing also if you guys are looking to swap rear ends go with the s13, q45 and z32TT hybrid rear end, thats what I have and it's strong, it consists of s13 subframe, q45 diff, one q45 axle and one z32TT axle

Still no good gearing that way. And the diffs are still way overpriced, with too few choices. I'm going with the Ford 8.8" from a '90 Thunderbird. Gearing choices range from 2.73:1 up past 5.38:1, and there's a dozen different styles of differentials, all under $600 each. The T-bird was 28-spline stubs, but with a 31-spline diff, the later Mustang Cobra stubs are a direct fit. There are also billet inspection covers and billet mounting brackets available for the Cobra, and these directly bolt to the T-bird version also.
Also, that AK pan is $400! I was thinking more like $50 for a used production pan. I have much better uses for $350.

you could do that also lol, also what pan would you be using? I am open to ideas on that as I have not gotten a pan yet! I was just told and shown by another member on hybridZ that the pan worked great. I was originally going to chop about 2" from the truck pan and use it.

as for my rear end I want to see how it all holds up to the power and if it goes quickly then I was thinking of doing the same sort of swap from the TBird!

I have 2 truck pans I'm not using, so I thought I'd do my first test-fit with one of them. Cutting and welding the pan and the suction tube is something I can do in my garage
A couple of months ago I tried to join hybridZ, with no luck. Who do I have to bribe?

How much would you charge for the extra pan ready to fit to 300zx? if you would be willing to make 2 and sell the other one!

you should be able to register no problem now, I think it was because the forums were going through re-development!

That could happen, though I'm wanting to go with an unmolested '98-'02 Z28 pan. Even if I have to molest the firewall to do it.

Default LQ9 LS3 single turbo swap in a 90 300zx TT

I will post more pics as I progress.

I'm doing a similar swap right now. I'm putting a LQ9 iron block LS3 single turbo(custom 78mm billet impeller Precision) in a 1990 300 zx. If you're looking for some suggestions on the turbo piping - shoot me your number and I'll give you a call to discuss. I did a ton of research on mine and I've pretty much got it sorted out.

I have a 5.3 in mine now... wish pics still worked. Would be cool to see the fab work done compared to the actual swap kit available publicly now.
