hey yall. Curious as to if anyone has done this swap and what the experience was. If its been done how hard was it, did you swap out or beef up your tranny, and how expensive was it to do the entire swap with edit?


Im looking to be in the 350/350 range. Not wanting a drag truck as such just wanting some extra power. The current engine has 120000 miles on it so Im not sure what all it can handle without possible having to do a fresh rebuild on it.

The ls1 is a direct swap for an 01 silverado. Pull out the stock engine and drop in the ls1. All the accessories will bolt right up. That is assuming it already has a 4.8/5.3. You may want to beef up the stock 4l60e. I will crankup and run fine. You may want to get it tuned run better. tons of truck guys have swapped out the stock engines for the 6.0 also.
