Default My Turbo LS1 RX7

Hey,

I've been working on my Turbo LS1 FD for quite some time. I figure some of you will enjoy seeing the pictures.

The manifolds, crossover pipe, downpipe, and rear end subframe were all fabbed by Tracy from speedfab.

That is some impressive fabwork.

Wouldn't it have been easier to just go twin turbo ? It looks like that front cross exhaust pipe has potential to melt alot of important wires and the radiator fan shroud.

Kudos for doing something different though.

Looks great! That thing is going to be so sweet!

What paint did you use on your valve covers? I like the finish.

It's not impossible to build a twin setup, but it would be a lot more cramped.
There is a lot less room that you realize. I'm planning to wrap the cross over pipe.

They are powdercoated with crinkle black. They look similar to a honda valve cover in person.

Thanks! I spent hours on them!

I made the "hinge" looking part from a piece of L shapped aluminum. I then machined all the spacers from a rod of solid aluminum and Tracy welded them together.

So you just have threaded rods running through there with locknuts on each end?

Damn sweet ride. FD is about the best platform there is aerodynamically.

Just an FYI, but your fuel pressure regulator isn't NHRA legal on the firewall. It needs to be 6" or more forward. Everyone gets mad at me for saying that. Just a heads up.

Once again that's a sweet car. What's this gonna run? 9's?

Thanks for the compliments. At this point I'm not really sure what it will run when i'm finished. I'd love to see it rip off a 9.99 pass, but who knows being as the suspension isn't setup for drag racing. I'm sure it'll run deep 10's with some decent mph.

I'm not too concerned about that right now as I built the car primarily for the street. When i do take it to the track, the officials will probably be too pissed off about the lack of rollbar/cage and harness to even notice where the regulator is.

I left your shop at 3am. I was too tired to worry about logging off.

Yep, no power steering. I've owned the car for about 7 years. It hasn't had power steering for 5 maybe even 6 of them.
