Default 68 firebird swap half way home

All,
Just wanted to share a few pictures of my ls1 swap. It's a 68 fire bird convertible that will be sporting an ls1 / t56 combo. Modified sub frame from BRP with power rack, ls1 disc brakes, tubular control arms, etc. Engine is in. Accelerator cable connected. Need to finish installing accessories, radiator, front clip, gas tank, painless wiring harness, and a few other small things. Trying to work out AC (with stock ls1 unit) and hydro boost conversion using a 99 mustang cobra unit. I'll post pics of the whole car later.

BMR Fabrication makes the upper and lower control arms. Very nice pieces. I was going to go with Global West but they came highly recommended and at a much lower price tag. On another note. Why is it so hard to get a FI gas tank. I've called four vendors and no one has them in stock and every body is saying three week wait.

I think they all build to order instead of maintaining an inventory. I thought the 3 week lead time was going to be a hold up on my swap... I eneded up getting the tank in mid-August, and didn't finally fire the engine until January

I agree those arms do look very nice...but, did they tell you that they improve handling.

Yes I was told they improve handling and had first hand experience. However, if you really want improved handling (geometry) go with a set of AFX spindles from ATS. I do not have first hand experience but am told by many that handling is much improved. I had already spent money on new spindles and ls1 brakes other wise I might have sprung for them. By the way....has any one used the BRP kit with headers. I'd like to know what headers to purchase.

Stainless Works LS1 swap headers were first built on the Year One Camaro which used the BRP kit. Thats who I used.

BTW, if you purchase them from Summit you can save some serious coin. (No idea why SW will not match Summits Price )Then tell Summit to have them drop shipped directly to you. I got mine within 1 week!!!

Channel resellers get upset when manufacturers undercut them through direct sales. So SW sells direct to end customers at the suggested retail price, sells to places like Summit's at a wholesale price (volume discount), and Summit sells to end customers at a discount price that's somewhere between retail and wholesale.

Can you verify the part number? Looks like there are a few available. I'm assuming its CALS1?

yes, that is the correct part number for the headers.

sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but we do need to "re-evaluate" that statement. I sent an e-mail to BMR and heres what they said:

They are only a stock replacement set up. they are not designed to improve handling.
Thanks,

So as it stands, I only know of Global West, Speedtech, and Detroit Speed, that proudce A-arms that do more than just look cool.

Wow! Guess you can't trust any one. When making the decision on which arms to purchase a well known and trusted vendor on this board told me that the BMR product and GW product were almost identical. Drove a club members car and it sure drove great but it could have been something else in the setup.
