Pick up the jeep tomorrow Had my friends shop weld in the motor mounts, mount the motor and setup the clutch...
All I have left is :
Modify Harness
Fab new exhaust
Buy Radiator and fan
Fuel system
Painless harness for the rest of the jeep
Random other stuff like hoses for power steering, cooling system
if anyone has reccomendations on where I might get some of this stuff or where to find the best deals let me know.
The swap in a 1999 5.3 into a 1978 Jeep CJ7 and still retaining the jeep T-18 4 speed.

Hi SSilver,
I had my harness done at speartech.
The fuel system,I used the fuel pump from donor vehicle and put that in a new gas tank,then ran braided stainless steel lines.
My donor was a 2002 avalanche with 5.3 into 1986 CJ7
Using the 4l60e transmission and dana 300 transfer case.
The radiator with fan,and the exhaust I got done by local shops.
I also bought an ez wiring harness off e-bay was alot cheaper than painless.

My 5.3/4L60E harness is at Jim's Performance, getting done.................the fan, I ordered from Novak, radiator from a local shop. My fuel pump is an E 2000, I bought at AutoZone. I'm still waiting on adapters.............hope they'll be here this week, so I can get tranny done, then start the install.

never thought of using the pump setup from a donor vehicle...I was thinking of just using an inline pump and filter...
radiator and fan I found on ebay for around 550 for an aluminum 4 core radiator with electric fan for a jeep with chevy engine...
I am gonna have to look up that EZ wiring harness because the painless is pricey...

Could you get some more detailed pictures around the framerails/motormounts and crank dampner pulley to the front diff for me? Ive got my 5.3 sitting on blocks in the jeep and trying to figure out how low I can keep it.

Verdad Gallardo That helps a bunch! Where the motor is sitting right now in my 7, as low as it needs to be the AC tensioner is resting on the diff. Ive got the motor moved over to the drivers side as far as I can, almost have the PS pump touching the steering shaft. Ill have to get a fan and radiator setup so I can see how front to rear placement is. Looks good man! Are you going to keep the suspension/driveline stock or upgrade?

I found a few good looking radiator/fan combos on ebay.... just do a search for "jeep chevy radiator" and it will come up with a bunch....
I have a 4 inch skyjacker lift waiting to go on but i wanna get the motor running first. Eventually I want to do a D60 rear and D44 front but I wanna get all the other crap done first...
