Yep seems you modded the firewall in the same manner I had planned on. But I hadnt seen anyone else go that far yet. Where did the shifter end up in relation to the stock location, appears to be very close. Also do you have any pics of how you cut the firewall before you boxed it back in and with the motor out. Did you ever get it on the scales I am very interested in your weight distribution. Finally I planned on motor plates sense it will put such a stress on the motor mount. Have is everything working out for you. Thanks

Hi found 1 pic off the firewall when work was in progress
the thing that stops you from moving the enginge more to the rear is gas linkage as you can see on the right.... i also cut below the chassi nr wanted to save that.. but i moved the pice back closer to the windscreen...... also with this location you have to fab upp a new widscreen wiper motor and linkage the 300 stuff will not work

used the rearsump 01 camaro oilpan lovered the crossmember about 1,5" to get the engine sitting as low *** possible.... and used steering kit from splparts to lover the sterring rodends at the upprigt to avoid bumbsteer

shifter endéd upp in stock location and its a very good car to drive 50/50 weight dist when you put gas in the tank....

The car weight no driver half tank of fuel (66lbs)

Total 2950lbs
Front 1500lbs
Rear 1450lbs

keep the tread uppdated.....

Thanks for the pic, you really did cut it up. Great job on the weight dist. I am hoping got the same but a 2700lbs dry weight. Also one more thing if you have the time. I am curious how car back your motor actually sits. If it is possible could you take a reference measurement from the rear of the rad support to the front of the throttle body. Or something like that so I can get and idea of where you ended up. I will be in the shop by next thursday. Should be wrapping up the fuel cell install and starting the cage. Once that is done I will start the firewall mods. Do you have any other pics of your motor mounts. Maybe from a little farther back to better see how they ended up. Thanks for the help and I will have more pics soon.

Someone just made a thread about the car that I thought had sold on ebay. Here's a link:
http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread/250009
"This Z is currently set up for racing,,, Most of the interior is also gutted for weight savings.
Weighs just under 2900 pounds"

Now that is a very well built car. I amamazed how it weighs under 2900lbs with basically complete interior besides ac, stereo, wipers so on. I dont see any reason why I wont be under 2700lbs with no interior or sound deadening and a sheet metal dash. Thanks for the post I am sure he will be able to help out alot.

Well I have gotten a little bit of work done on the Z over the last few days. Got the fuel cell all mounted up. Finished gutting out the doors and installed 14 of 16 cage plates. Also installed the rear strut brace. Hopefully today I will be able to get on the bender and make up the main hoop. I will have some update pics either later today or tomorrow. Thanks

Are you still being this for time attack? I thought they did not allow push rod motors?

Well I finally got a chance to take some pics of the cage the other day. We finished a bunch more and I should have some new pics next week. Besides what is shown below we bent the halo up and started to notch it. Fit both the rear fuel cell protection bars and mounted them. I also fit the v-brace that will go from the main hoop to the tunnel.

Got the valve covers, intake and TB to help with the mock up process

I finished up the other half of the harness bar later that day.

We were shooting for very close fitup and possibly welding it right to the pillars or adding a gusset. I am very happy with the fitment.

Got the fuel cell mounted up as low as I could. Just need to get 2 straps and it will be all done.
