made an offer for an engine. $4200 for a 02 trans am ls1 pull-out. 28K miles, engine, auto trans, PCM, Harness, 6 month warrenty. he offered it up for $4350. so the current price is $4350. Sound like a fair deal? Not as cheap as some but it is a running pull out with a warrenty and with everything hooked to the engine, sensors, wireing, PCM, MAF, plumbing to MAF.
He was asking $4600. so its less, but not alot, enough to cover a basic retune and harness work.
What do yall think?

any thoughts?
Edit, nevermind went ahead and got it,
Think i have everything squared away, except the fuel system. Leaving it stock, plan on picking up a 02 fuel pump and sender unit. Any advice on the fuel system is greatly appriciated, everyone ends up with a different set up so.... throw out idea's please. thanks.

My uncle expressed concern about the radiator, and fuel system. Everything else I think we can get together, using various resources. I think the radiator should be fine, anyone got any pics of the stock radiator for a ls1 from a camaro? I need pics, or diminsions of the stock gas tank too. Thanks for everything.

CherryElky,
PM me an email adress and I will send you the fluid hookup information from our Camaro. It doesn't post well, but I have it in a word doc and an excell spreadsheet I can send you. Some of it may help you out. Oh, and I don't feel you paid to much for a low milage 02. Remember you already have the LS6 intake with that setup, so you are $500 ahead right there.
Looking at your new post, go to our fquick and you will see some pics of the rad. I am thinking that with the angled filler neck, we may have soem trouble, but it was easy to mount, and it works good so far. We will know about hood clearance issue on Sunday..

thanks for that info, looking at that radiator, it almost looks the same as my el camino's stock radiator. Is the camaro aa 4 core or 3 core? going to pick the engine up on sunday and monday, its a 9 hour drive so we're making it a two day thing. Once we get the engine back, I'll pop the pan and take a peek. then send the pan off so i can get the mounts and modified pan back with that we can start to mount up the engine for test fitments.

Here's my El Camino. A good canidate don't you think?
I have different wheels on it now, Their not real american racing rims but look the same, got them all cleaned up and polished. Not bad for $300 all together in the wheels.

Pulled the pan today and the harness. Those are almost ready to send off. Gotta clean the pan. Until we get the harness back not much we can do, but if the pan and mounts come in we might pull the old engine and trans out and place the ls1 in the car.
Til then we need to figure out the fuel system and buy all the parts for that. I think Im gonna use scooter's method of doing it.
What in-line pump is recommended for this, anyone know the stock psi and volume of the stock ls1 pump?
Fuel systems are greek to me. What the hell is an AN fitting and how does it differ from stock stuff?
What kind of fuel lines did 02 trans am's run? plastic? steel?
Does Russal make a fitting to mount to the stock fuel rail?
Thanks for anyone who reads this! Things are getting exciting.

Cherry,
you can remove the solenoid on the left and the hose to the Intake. Cap the barb on the intake. The AIR stuff (big round vacuum can on the right of the picture) and all its tubes. The little thing by the fuel connection can go away as well. This cleans up a lot of crap. The PCM will need to have the emmisions stuff removed. THis is the AIR system and the EVAP stuff. If you decide to keep evap, you need to retain the solenoid and hoses on the right side.

Thanks for the confirmation on that. We cleaned the pan today I hope that it is clean enough that he John won't charge me that extra $55, but what can ya do? lol anyway things are kinda at a stand still now, until I get the fuel system all lined up, not much to do. Info I need:
Stock fuel pump volume and psi (May be in the service manual I should have tomarrow)
Info on Russle's fittings (if they make connections to go right to the fuel rail)
Unless we can modify the stock pump to work in my tank, we are going to use an inline setup. Not a problem as I got the stock pump free of charge.
Once we have the fuel system lined up and maybe even purchased, we should Have the mounts and pan back, and the harness. So the old engine will come out at that point, and the new one in.
Then its on to the drive shaft.

Well I got the tech service manual tonight. Dissapointed in it, at $163 it should have the volume that the stock pump flow's but no mention of it. I suppose it will come in handy at some point. Probably should have not got it, blowing my budget here lol. On a side note turns out I have an LS6 block, don't worry i read the sticky and know that it doesent give me more power

It seems even GM doesent know what the stock fuel pump flow's. GRRR. To top things off Russell told me that they don't make a fitting to go right to the fuel rail on my engine. The operator told me I have to modify the fuel rail. AHHH.
Anyone shed some light on this? Seems to me I've seen people use some fitting, so some makes one.

Oil pan has been sent off, harness will go out tomarrow. So in about three weeks the motor can go in, in that time i need to figure out and by my fuel system and fans, then once the engine is in we can do the drive shaft and figure out the shifter situation.

Cherry, I don't know about your application. What does the driver side area look like? If you are willing to sacrifice a few lb-ft of torque, S&P mid lengths are pretty easy installs. I do not remember how much room you have for LT's. Been a while since I looked under a G Body.
