What exactly does plug going into the side of the oil pan go to? I assume it is a sensor that turns on the oil light in the stock vehicle. Will I miss it if I go to an Autokraft or moroso aftermarket pan for my 69 camaro?

Its the low oil level light sending unit. Im pretty sure it just triggers a light... not sure if the PCM will shut the car down in the event that the level drops too low...
I didnt do anything with mine. Its still wired into the harness, but I have no light at the moment. It might even just control the light... Someone else can chime in for sure.
Bottom line, if you never run low on oil, it doesnt do squat anyway.

Mine's disconnected as well. I am running the dash cluster out of the swap car ('00 T/A) and I think since I have the cluster all wired up that the low oil light is on but the car still runs just fine. The VATS was disabled of course but beyond that the car runs just fine.
