Ls1/chevelle Turbo mount question.
Hey whats up guys(first post). I am in the process of doing a ls1 71 chevelle swap and was wondering if anyone could help me out with this turbo kit. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/97-02...mZ250116922140
It looks decent for 2000.00, my question is i know its hard just looking at it through pics but what problems do you guys think i will run into mounting it? The listing says no returns so if it dosent work i will be stuck with it.

You will have to custom build a system for your Chevelle. The hardest part is getting by the streeing shaft. If you dont want to run air, you can use truck manifolds turn forward. They support 1000hp, and makes things a little easier.

Ok guys i been surfn these fourms and heres what i got. For manifolds run 5.3 or 6.0 truck manifolds turned forwards. Next im trying to figure out what turbo to run. I want the car to be streetable and the motor internals are going to be stock(only mod will be cam) so i dont want to run too much boost. I have about a year of tig class under my belt so welding the tubing wont be a problem. Anyone single turbo a chevelle have any advice before i start project? Thanks!

t4 master power t70 or t76,
are good options, the master power unit being lower priced.
Forced Inductions sponsor here has really good prices on turbos-->
stock motor will support 550 bhp with a correct tune.
5 psi is a safe starting point, ls6 cam is also common choice
for entry level turbo and hi psi engines

tial or hks are the brands i use,
38mm or 50mm will work fine with either turbo,
larger turbos need 50mm or larger, bov depends on what sound
u want, swoosh or bird sound, i prefer a recirculation valve or diverter
valve on under 10 psi builds and manual trans.
diverter valve is plumbed back into intake tract, when throttle plate closes pressure is recirculated back into the tract, i prefer to plumb it back in to the incooler inlet.

wow pretty sick. Now i still have my motor out of my car so should i build my turbo system whyle the motor is out or put the motor in and then build the system. It sounds way easier to build it out of the car but all it takes is 1 thing that got in the way and i might have to rework almost the whole thing. Pmed ya.

Ya i figured doing turbo whyle the motor in was the better way to do it. What do you recommed for a wg and bv for a nice loud "bird" sound and what injectors and fuel pump to run and i think im going to start this project. Thanks

In that kit on ebay... Its all ching chong parts. The turbo's can last 2 days or 2 months. Their ching chong wastegates, bovs, and most FMIC's are pretty decent for being stamped out though.

ya im not getting that kit. I figure i will spend a little more money and do my own turbo. Im just not very educated on turbos and there parts(bv,wg,ect). I dont think ill have trouble fabing up all the tubing to make it work im just looking for some input before i spend my cash so i dont buy some junk or something thats not going to be effective on my build. A couple people have been very helpful on what i should get but the more input the better. Thanks guys

Maximum Boost by Corky Bell is a very informative book,
and covers most all basic turbo tech and fabricating advice, engine building
advice and component selection, thats the only book that i can think of that
has a vast aray of information about turbocharger math and fabrication
and parts information. u should read it thru before u continue on and begin
fabricating, so it save costly mistakes. explains, wastegates, lag, fueling,
tuning, etc.
i highly recommend this book, i can honestly say i learned
alot about turbos and fabricating from this book and i have been fabricating
turbo systems since like 98' . my family owns a large diesel repair shop,
so the turbos have alsways been around my cars.

Here is a couple of mine. I have had it done for a couple years now. Works awesome. Drives like stock until you hit the go pedal.
If you look me up, I have posted a ton of info and pics that might help.
