Default radiator questions

I'm having an aluminum radiator made. Do you guys think it would be better to have the standard older size outlets(1 1/2 and 1 3/4) or should I have it made to match the LS1(1 1/4 and 1 1/2)? What do you do with the bigger size outlets. Do you just clamp the bigger hose onto the smaller fitting? If I went with the smaller sizes are there any hoses that size that would work in a camaro? Thanks, John

Just my opinion, but I would have it made with the SMALLER LS1 sizes. You might be surprised at how close you may be with a set of stock LS1 hoses. At least you could start with the stock hoses and know both ends would fit! Maybe a little custom adapting in between.

Well I was able to use the stock hoses on my 67 Camaro with my stock 67 radiator. I spliced in some muffler pipe reducers from the Pep Boys rack to make the different size transitions. I had to trim the ends of the hoses slightly for clearance.

Whatever works out easiest is certainly the way to go. Don't forget to add the coolant purge line (the small fitting under the throttle body or in front of the intake) when having a radiator custom built.

I deceided to go with the smaller LS1 sizes. I think it would be better not to have to use any reducers. I did tell him to add the fitting for the purge line. Thanks for your help. John
