LS conversion for D-Body Cadillac Coupe DeVille
So, here's the deal...
My boss moved here to the "D" from Cali a while back, and as one of his first offical acts, bought himself a D-body 'Lac -- an '80 Coupe DeVille with 33K miles. (The Depends in the trunk were gratis...)
Good move. Only one problem: it has a V6. Yes, the cocktail shaker Buick V6 that couldn't pull the pimento from an olive. No wonder he got a deal.
Since I work for a company that does a lot of business with GM, it seems like a great bonding opportunity to chainfall that lump out of there and stab in a new GM Performance Parts crate engine, namely the LS2. Light, lots of power, fairly compact. If you can put a 572 in the damn thing like Tony Stewart's hearse, an LS oughta slide right in.
I came up with a list of what would be done, for starters:
? LS2 V8 (400 hp, 400 lb.ft. tq stock from the crate)
? Air intake and filtering system
? 4L65E 4-speed OD transmission
? Torque convertor for 4L65E
? PCM and harness for LS2
? Trans linkage modify/adapt
? Throttle linkage modify/adapt
? Controller, harness, programming for trans
? Modify/fabricate engine mounts
? Modify/fabricate trans mount
? Speedometer conversion signal generator
? Select and install custom radiator
? Adapt Cadillac A/C system to LS2 accessory drive
? Adapt Cadillac PS/PB to LS2 engine
? Fabricate / install exhaust system
? Fabricate / install fuel tank and return
Has anyone here ever done a GM B-/C-/D- body swap and still made everything work when it was done? On a scale of one to forget it, how did it turn out?
Anxious to hear your ideas, links, posts, flames, whatever.

Thats the same body as a Caprice right. If so there a few members on here that have done Caprices so it should be the same. There is a dude on Cardomain with a Delda 88 (same body) with an LS1 swap.
i have a late model impala SS gas tank w/ a walbro 255 pump to use as well as a 91-96 4L60-E crossmember.
