Never found out. Been kind of a slow progress. Still do not have the motor or trans. We will be working from the back to front. Life has been getting in the way lately. I will have to join another classic car forum to find out some of this fitment stuff.

Well this is a restoration project as well as an LSX swap. So we are going to start the body work. We are going to do this car show quality. Lots of smoothing needed. Should not take too long, but we have another car on the rotisserie right now so it may be a while.

I'm in the exact same situation. I bought a basket case about a month ago. I have her stripped down to nothing and working on the front subframe right now. Once I get the firewall finished, subframe painted, and front suspension rebuilt I'll be working on getting the engine & trans in. The reason I ask is that I can get a pretty good deal on a recently rolled Chevy 2500 with LQ4/4L80E. I may end up buying it in case it will work.
As far as color is concerned, I think I'm going with either Atomic or Brazen Orange Metallic. The "SS" style nose stripe will be done in a metallic gunmetal gray with matching centers in a set of TQII's.
Here's a Photoshop mock up based on Steve's '68. I may not go with as drastic of a drop though

I wanted to do that type of color, but my brother already wants that color for his car. My first choice was blue, but my other brother is painting his car that color. You are basically building my car it sounds like. I was going to go with that type of rim and your thoughts of a drop too. But I think I may go with a 30th anniversary stripe in a clear/pearl so you just catch it in the right light. So I am leaning toward a red right now. The car was originally red so I figure it would be fitting.

That was my exact thought originally. I wanted to do a set of light pearl ghost stripes in a yellow/gold color on top of the orange. What color pearl do you plan on using on top of the red?

Almost clear. So it will be like just the pearl coat without color. If that does not work, then we will add a slightly different red to it. Very little bit just to pull it up a bit. I almost want it to be invisible unless you were close to it. So when people look at it they are like, "****, this car has ghost stripes", then, "the detail in the body work is amazing", and, "look at the work on that cage"...
