walbro fuel pump...
yes only as a vapor, but oxygen must be present.
Gasoline is not conductive, it is explosive and convective. The explosion is caused by igniting a flame produced by a spark.
In order to light a flame(see above), or cause ignition, you need oxygen. Inside the gas tank there is very little or no oxygen because there are more gasoline molecules and they are heavier than the few oxygen molecules, thus no ignition.( just don't test this theory on my behalf
)Think about it, just about every prouduction car today uses an intank pump. A few reasons being are that the pump stays cooler, its quieter, and is more reliable.
BTW, if none of this were true, *Yellowbrother " huh??? i hope u're kidding"*, there would be reports of vehicles blowing up everywhere because someone started their car on a vapor filled, almost empty tank of gas!!!!!

I had saved this article because I had installed a FAA mandatory modification on some Boeing 737's back in 1996 because of TWA flight 800. "Supposedly", some wiring that passed through the fuel tanks were chaffing against each other, caused a spark, and thats what was said to have caused the explosion of that aircraft. The mod was to install a polyurethane tubing around the wires, keeping them from touching each other and further sealing them from exposure to fuel.
