Default QTP stainless LT headers installed

I am working on an LS1/T56 swap in my 96 Impala SS. I had been waiting for the headers so I could finalize my engine and transmission location.

I also had a brand new 4” dynotech driveshaft to consider. I had purchased it before deciding to do the swap. It was ¾” extended for the metco trailing arms I installed.

I installed the headers this weekend. They look great and fit even better. I can now finish the motor mount and cross member fabrication. I am very happy with them. This is another application for Barry to consider for these headers.

After reading what John B went through to build his headers, I can appreciate purchasing aftermarket units.

Did QTP make custom headers for the Impala, or were you able to use the F body units???

Gratz on finding off the shelf headers that fit, I finally received my LT from Hooker today, but unfortunately engine is on stand awaiting my B1 cam from MTI (3weeks now), so won't know for a week or so if they fit.

After seeing JohnB's project, I was even more motivated to find some that worked. I am spending way to much time on this project already. The wife is starting to run out of patience. These were off the shelf fbody headers. I did have to do some serious modification to the front cross member for the oil pan and AC compressor. I also had to notch the top of the cross member for header clearance to allow me to drop the engine as low as I possible. I have it as low and far back as possible. With 150lbs less (aluminum engine/head and bat relocation) on the front end this should make for some great weight distribution improvements. Biggest task ahead is building the wiring harness from the existing LT1 and LS1 harnesses.

The LS1 is a 2001 Camaro SS engine w/6k miles. I am installing a mild CC 216/220 525/532 114 cam, 918 springs, Ti retainers, 160 degree thermostat, LS6 valley cover, SLP MAF (did not have a stock MAF) and Spec Stage 2 before the final engine install. I am doing a bunch of other thinks like new Eaton and 4.10 gears at the same time. I plan on a little spray down the road as well.

I will put up some pictures a little later. JohnB inspired me to document the whole thing.

Do u know the part # on those headers. I went to go buy them and they two LT Headers, one with the 3 inch collectors and one with the 2 1/4 inch collectors.

I am not sure of the part number, they are just fbody 1 3/4" primaries with a 3" collector.
