17" wheels on a 1st gen Fbody - Help! I was wondering if anyone could tell me how wide of a 17" wheel I can run on a 1st gen F-body, and what the offset is?!?!

Re: 17" wheels on a 1st gen Fbody - Help! There are way too many factors to consider. Check out www.camaros.net under the wheels and tires section. You will find more info there than you need. I put 17 x 8's front and rear on mine with 4" bs. I have an unconventional ford 9" rear end in a Lincoln versailles axle assembly so do not go by my car. I also have front discs from a 72 monte carlo. Everyone says 4.5" bs up front (no way for me, I tried it and had to return the wheels). As for a stock rear end most use 5.5" bs. I would recommend 17 x 8's all around but that will limit your tire size out back.

Re: 17" wheels on a 1st gen Fbody - Help! Go to www.pro-touring.com there is a ton of information there concerning running 17" and 18" rims. Check out the forums, people are very helpful there. There is also a "cars" page and you will find links to webpages for a lot of 69's with 17"s, etc.

Re: 17" wheels on a 1st gen Fbody - Help! I put 17x8 with 4 3/4 BS on the front and back. 255/50's on back and 245/45's on the front. You can fit a 275 on the back if you go with a 5 1/4 or 5 1/2 BS and a 9.5" rim. I went with 4 3/4 because that was a standard size. Ffor a custom I would have had to wait 6-8 weeks. I am very happy with the way mine fit. It sits just right. John
