I've had my conerns about low oil pressure with
my 2002 LS1 and chasing down possible problems.
I have at hot idle possibly 10psi and at higher
rpms......20-25psi. So these engines don't have alot of
pressure? Seems strange to be so low in my book?

This is one of the subjects that most folks will not agree on a number. Basically what GM is saying is that unless the oil pressure drops below these levels, things are fine and they wont make a repair. My sons 2002 idles at about 30-40 psi, even when hot. My "old school" 350 idles at 30 psi all day long and goes up to 50-60 psi at about 2000 rpm (Mobil 1 5w-30). It is a GM crate motor and has never been opened up, so the pump is what GM installed. Personally, I would like to see 15-20 psi at idle (hot).

When I first started my engine up it would idle at around 35-38psi, which I thought at the time was a bit low, until I saw this post.

My LQ4 idles @ mid-30's but then goes up around 50psi when I gas it, is this normal?

What oil pressures are you other conversion guys experiencing??

For anyone with stock oil pumps (not aftermarket or ported)... what are your oil pressures?

I've searched and there are oodles of threads talking about oil pressure problems, but once the problems are fixed none those threads include the resulting oil pressures.

Maybe this thread can become a future reference for oil pressure variation for whoever might search it up...

My 2002 at 185 deg idles at about 35 psi, at 1900 rpm it's around 40, and under full throttle it's 58 or so . At least that is what the video showed on my first launch. I have a mechanical gauge and I run 5W30 mobile one. And to thank I was one of those guys that had zero pressure for the longest time after I got it running.

My car with 5w30 at hot idle is around 30-35psi. Cold idle is around 45psi. Cruising at 2000rpms or so its in the 55psi range. 10 psi at idle is very low.
