I would love to see this swap. I love old stangs, but hate ford engines...

I really cant see that it would be all that hard. It has a good size engine bay. The hardest part would be fabing up engine mounts, but dont really think that would be too hard. There is already a couple of articles articles on hydrolic clutch setups that can be done on the cheap but arent a sloppy setup. stangnet.net has about the best resource for the old mustangs however hope you got a good flame suit though there are guys that get crazy over a 4.6 swap, but im sure you'll find some suporters there too.

I dunno, the early 'stangs had a narrow engine bay because of the springs above the upper A arms, knida like the early Novas. I would get a tape measure out and get to measuring before I did anything else. I recall seeing a SBC in a Mustang, but don't know what it took to get it in there. The SBFs are narrower than Chevys.

A friend of mine is in the planning stages of an LS1 swap into a 69 coupe. From his measurements, He'll have to notch the shock towers a great deal. He's going with a set of coil overs to save a little room. The trans tunnel will also need some work. It looks to be really tight, but doable.

I'm far from a mustang guy, but if I recall correctly, the '65 is even narrower than the '69. As was stated before, make sure to take good measurements. It'll probably be pretty close.

I'd think that too, just looking at them (was next to a '70 stang at recent car show )

since it's gonna be a driver the stock manifolds are usable maybe that'll help some
gonna take the advice and find a car to measure and photo first

thanks for the + responses

you could always go with a mustang II style coil-over system to eliminate problems with the A-arms. After gutting the engine bay and removing the shock towers, I would think that there would be enough room in there.
