Default Noisy fuel pump

I am about to complete my project now, I have been working on the interior for some time now. Fabricating a new dashpanel for example.

When I now start up the engine and the exhaust system is there I can hear the fuel pump wining very high. It is noticeable over the engine noise. Earlier startups have been with open headers. The pump doesn't sound like it is having problem or so it is just a lot of noise. So my question is how much should it sound?

The pump is from Tanks Inc and built in to a stock Camaro gastank.

My thoughts are that the tank itself works as an accoustic amplifier here, like a guitarr.

i think you are right on the tank making it louder but maybe the pump you have is just designed that way, it works but makes more noise than others similar brands as it. ??? I know i had to replace my stock pump in my trans am and the new walbro 255lhp was noticeable to me. Wasnt extremely loud but enough that you could tell. Couldnt really hear it on the street or at idle and even less with the radio on etc etc. Maybe your's is just loud plain and simple ?

I have noticed same thing w/ my Rock Valley tank w/ submerged pump. Granted , the tank in the 62 Vette is right behind drivers seat.

I notice the same thing with my Walbro 255lph pump when the tank is low. When its full...All I can hear is the Aeromotive FPR bypassing the fuel...but when the tank is lower than 1/3...that pump screams...and when its like 1/8....its really loud...can hear it over idle.

My external pump is noisy too. At idle my car is quiet, and that pumy is annoying. Puttin a cam in sat....exhaust will sound better and maybe that noise will go away

jannes I had the same Tanks inc setup and did notice the pump was quite loud. At first I thought that maybe it was going out but turned out to be ok. I dropped the tanks and cleaned it, ensured the pump was ok and it was still loud. I think you should be ok.

Thank you guys,

I have been thinking that it might be because the tank is low on fuel at the moment. I have a few things left to do on it tomorrow and then I can drive to the gas station and fill her up. Maybe it gets quieter then.

On idle it has a very low level of noise, the engine is stock except headers.

We'll see later when I change the cam on it to get a better hrump out of it
