Default LT1 to LS1 k-member problems

I am installing my LS1 kmember into my 95 Z28 for a LS1 swap. The kmember seems to not be as wide as my lt1 was. Anyone had this problem or know what to do?

Is the LS1 k-member an aftermarket piece, or a stock one? If it is stock, was it involved in an accident?

FWIW, my LS1 BMR unit fit flawlessly into my LT1 chassis.

I dunno if it was the kmember or my body. I would like it if someone would measure center to center on thier kmembers middle bolt holes so i can find out if it is my body

I'll be wrenching on my car tomorrow, if I think about it I'll throw up some measurements for ya. I'm 99% sure the distances diagonally for the front two mounts should be the same. Also, and sorry if this seems obvious but, you've probably seen the tabbed-nuts inside the frame rails that slide around for adjustment right?

Yea I have seen those but it is about 1/2" off so that wont do any good. I am hoping its the kmember and not my body I guess I should measure my old kmember as well as my new one. Yea if you get those measurements I would appreciate it. Can I use stock a-arms on a tubular kmember? I am just wondering cause I dont have the money for all of it yet. If so I may just go w a tubular and reuse my a arms until I can get new tubular arms.

Ya, you can still use the stock arms with the BMR unit (I am), not sure on the other brand K-members, but I'd imagine you can on them also.

I'd compare measurments from your old LT1 unit to the new LS1 unit. If they are different, I'd guess your body and subframe are tweaked. If so the LT1 subframe can be used but you will have to drill and tap the holes to mount the motor mounts.

The lt1 is 1/2" wider than the ls1. I guess I just have to wait and see if someone can measure a stock unbent ls1 kmember for me to know if it is my body or the kmember

I used a PA LS1 style k-member and had no problems. I bet the K member you have has been involved in some unfortunate events.

Man I'm sorry, I completely spaced getting those measurements for you when I was working on the car. Sounds like you got it figured out now.
