Default Removing dipstick tube

I'm trying to remove the dipstick tube from my 6.0L and it seems like its in there pretty good. I need to install the Camaro LS1 style as I switched oil pans. Any tips on how I can do so without destroying it?

Thanks

The bolt up by the manifold is all that keeps it in place. It is just an O-ring that holds it. Do you already have a new dipstick? We finally got the Lokar in, and have an F-body dipstick lying around.

There is an o-ring where the dipstick meets the block, too.

I ended up destroying my 6.0 dipstick tube trying to get it out. It just didn't want to come out. I'd suggest liberal application of Liquid Wrench or Knock'er Loose (a CRC product) and then try....

Yep, remove the bolt, twist, pull and wiggle. If its really stuck you could try to use a tack remover or other forked prying tool to pry it up as you pull and wiggle.

If the oilpan is off, I would tap the hole and put a plug in it.

The GTO`s had a plug in the dipstick hole from the factory, someone said it looked like a mini freeze plug. I don`t have a PN, but you could probably get one at a GM dealer.
