the rear end is very strong, 500whp is very doable for it. axles seem to be the weak link between 5-600

just put a good differential in and youre good to go. i have a kaaz and love mine.

Well I agree.. But it's how he runs. I respect it. He also won't remove any of his interior to break into the 8's

Where did you hear this? What is your definition of "almost"? Because cutting and rewelding the subrame doesn't really seem to me like it almost fits.

I know Full Race made one fit, and I agree that the R230 is indestructible, but R200s are so plentiful and break so rarely, that until you actually break one, it doesn't make sense to go to all that trouble.

The stock suspension is WEAK. Throw some sticky tires on it and you can really see what I mean. Any stock suspension will hold up to tires that spin all day long

My current project is a full backhalf 4-link, Strange axles, Explorer 8.8 housing , 325/50R15 M/T ET Street Radials on 15x10 Prostars. Shooting for 1.3-1.4 60's and a high 10 sec pass on a 450HP LS1/T-56 setup.

Plus, you cant add that big of a tire with that stinking coil in the way

the stock suspension isnt designed for drag racing. put some coilovers on it and youll see how much better it handles, but its still not meant for going fast in a straight line.

It isn't. Yet there are still those in the 1.3 60' range.....

http://www.mazworx.com/home/index.cfm?event=racecars

I haven't followed the car recently but I believe it's run at least a 9.1. IRS and h pattern 5 speed.

Personally, I'll be happy if my ls1 rx7 will pull a bit over a g on a skidpad with good balance on the track and be able to 60' in the 1.5 range at the dragstrip.... should be cake. Car just needs clutch bled and I should have it on the road, so I shall see soon enough.

Not trying to take anything away from what you're doing with your suspension however. It will certainly do it's job at the drag strip.

edit... sorry not you kamin but to slo_240sx in regards to the rear suspension...

I agree you can make it withstand some power but that mazworx car isnt a V8. Granted that Sr20 is stout, but wont make as much low end torque as a built LS1 to apply the same amount of torque shock to the drivetrain.

For the price of building the drivetrain it was just smarter for me to backhalf it. By the time you get built axles, all of the control arms, and diff that cost you an arm and a leg, You can have a nicely tubbed 240. I know most of you aren't hardcore drag racers, it just suits my need. But I'll warn you now, Anything over 450-500HP with a sticky tire, you'll break axles and blow diffs. I've seen friends of mine run and click off 1.4's with stock suspension only to have the sub-frame twist, break axles and diffs and bend every arm in their rear suspension.

But for every daily LS1 cruiser that will handle nice and see the strip every once in a while you'll be okay. Just dont put a super sticky tire on and you'll be set. I'm just saying the number of people who do LS1 swaps are guy who want their cars to go super fast so leaning towards a tubb isnt a bad idea.

Also, you can fit a bigger tire under that Rx-7 and your IRS is alot stronger than ours. Take away half the strength of your input shaft, rear case, output shafts, axles and control/trailing arms, and you'll understand where I'm coming from.

I have a 32 GTR rear diff shimmed up with GTR shafts, hubs and rear brakes fit to my 180sx and all the rear susp arms are adjustable and the softest springs (3kg) I could find fit into the coilovers.

Pulling the front coilovers out and fitting the stock shocks revalved to 90/10's.

Hopefully will be able to tune it to launch hard with the IRS.
