LS1 Casting Numbers-Need Help With the increase in LS1 motors for sale I am trying to compile a list of LS1 casting numbers for heads and blocks. Please check your casting numbers and let me know and I will publish the results. The block number is on the driver side rear just below where the head bolts on, this is the rear surface around the corner from the 3 digit head number, you may need a mirror to see it. The complete head number is under the valve cover but the 3 digit number would be ok. If you are sure of the year and application (Vette LS1, LS6; F-body; Truck 4.8, 5.3, 6.0, Crate motor, etc) please supply that also. I have not seen any date coding but expect it is there somewhere. If you see it please explain where you found it.
If there is something already published please let me know. I have not found anything official except an article in GM HI-Tech Perf which listed head casting numbers ending with 2002.
