Default progress LSX stang swap build

its a 4cly 87 coupe with a stick and 7.5 rear end.

i got a 8.8 that i'm building and the engine is going to be a 6.0 vortect short block that i will be putting arp rod bolts in and a better set of rings when i rebuild it.the top end is going to be semi ported L98 heads, gmpp ported carb style intake, custom cam, plate system and a 850 or 950 carb.

exh will be kooks headers right into bullet mufflers and then turn downs.

i got the car on sat and started work yesterday.i am almost done stripping it.i am keeping it the hugger orange but am going to paint over the gay *** mustang on the side of it.

I like the color as well, and agree the pony needs the boot. My monte's interior is in about eh same shape, all stripped down by my wiring is atrocious. Goodluck and keep us updated.

The wiring is all ripped out only thing i kept was the light harness..i cut my wires on my steering colum long and i kept the fuse block and the plugs for the light switchs on the dach..i'm thinking of wiring the n2o arming switch into the hazzard light switch..lol

tomarrow i will be pulling the bumpers off and putting the covers back on and pulling the fenders off..ford likes to put **** in the damn fenders.

if i get done in a decent amount of time and the florida sun aint that bad i will start painting every thing black in the inside and put navel jelly in the trunk to stop the rust and then paint over that.

right now i'm looking for a th-400 cross memeber for the stang..i'm using motor plates for the engine..so i aint sweating that.

i'm hoping i will have it done in dec.and that is race and street ready.

its going to be my daily driver once done..i still aint got the engine for it yet..so the next thing im doing it getting a use 6.0 vortec engine with all the wireing an intake and selling the top end off and getting the L92 heads and intake bare and start porting them and build the heads

or build the 8.8 rear i got with all strange **** and do all the rear racing suspension and get a p.a front end coil over kit and k-member.

verz
the car is just getting spray painted black inside..once i scrap the lil sound matts that are glued to the floor

i got a pic with the bumper cover back on it and a shot of the engine bay and what it looks like now but it wont up load to photo bucket.

i got most of the bolts out the fenders but the 2 in each wheel well..i got to pull the tires off the get the screws out..

the bumper will be off tomarrow also and then i will paint the inside all black and the engine bay and pull the front sway bar and paint the dash all black and reinstall that.

i stopped around 4 today the sun was just whooping my *** and i'm sun burnt..felt like i was going to pass out so that was enough to tell me i was done for the day.

come night time i might take on the sound **** super glue to the damn floor.

i gutted the doors today came in side for a bit.went out side when it stopped raining and the damn hood was blown off and laying on the side of the car..bent the tip of the hood, chipped the fender paint and put 3 lines/chunks in the plastic / fiber glass part that is on the tip of the fenders.

fucked up part is i had the front of the hood latched down..so some one looked in the engine bay and then shut the hood and didn't latch it or something..thankfuly the front ended is just sitting there or it probley would of cracked the front fiber glass peice and dented the fender.

so i went out and tried getting the sound mating up today and was going to paint the trunk..instead i just fucked with mating all day and painted the dash and behind the dash.

tomarrow i should have all the mating up and have the whole inside of the car painted flat black and if i get done in time i will paint the engine compartment also.

now though..i was just going to paint the sides of the car but some **** happend and now the car really needs to be painted.

so what color should i paint the car..i am getting a carbon fiber hood and doing fiber glass doors like billy gliddens with roll up lexan windows..but i wont be painting the carbon fiber hood just clear coating that.

i'm thinking a marron/candy apple red, white, silver or black? what do u guys think?

i had the clip just sitting on the frame and the hood..well some one came out and looked under the hood and didn't latch it down and just set the hood back down..well i was inside because of a rain storm that was coming in..i came out awhile later and the hood was blown over and on the ground..fucked the hood up,fender and front plastic..and i got a couple other scraps and scratchs on the car now..so i'm just going to paint it..i was planing on just painting the side but now its everything..

but i may be getting fiber glass doors and a 1 pc front clip that i will mod to take head lights.

Little hint on the sound deadening....
Propane torch is hot enough to soften it
Metal spatchula or similar, I picked up one from walmart for .99, rubber handle, metal spatchula all flat with a bevel edge

Heat the material and scrape from one end to another
Once the material is gone, use the propane torch again and a wire brush to get the remains off, should be the residue, the wire brush removes all taces.

For sound deadening, I have heard of a technique where you take a nitrous bottle or a CO2 bottle for welding, a hose from the bottle, a pare of gloves, a metal putty knife and a hammer. Freeze the sound deadener and then chip it off, no sticky mess to deal with.

i'm doing the tourch one..at first i was just getting it hot enough where it would scrap up leaving no trace..but that takes about as long as using a hammer and a scraper and doing it with it cold.

i then got pissed and treid lighting it on fire/melting it away..**** comes right up,but leaves alot of trace..so next step will be wire wheel.

i've heard of the n2o,co2 and dry ice trick also
