LQ4 could have an issue with T56 bolting up to it due to the thick crank flange, not sure about the LQ9. Pull a plug and look into the cyl with a borescope and you'll know for sure what you have.

Only an issue with the 99-2000 iron head 6.0,after that the only difference is the dished piston in the LQ4.

i never needed a borescope to check piston dish if the engine is out of the vehicle. i use one of these and stick my eyeball down there next to it.

https://www.zoro.com/streamlight-ind...Q&gclsrc=aw.ds

with 15* valve heads it's pretty easy to see the piston at TDC

only 99 and early 2000s if its a factory untouched aluminum head, you have no worries with the crank, you can just remove the spacer

If you drop the pan and look at the rods and find them to be of the floating variety, its a good chance its an LQ9. All LQ9's had the floaters...at least my 02 LQ9 does.

LQ9 and LQ4 use the same block. The difference is in the innards.....

My 2002 LQ9 is drive by wire.
