stalling when selecting reverse (T56) I took the car for a long ride to the track this past weekend. A couple of times when completely warmed up, the car would stall when I put it in reverse. I had to stab the throttle to save it. I have a 4:56 gear out back. Also, I do not know if it is related, but when I come to a stop the tach quivers around 500 rpm and the engine nearly always stalls but doesn't. I have not modified the PCM to tell it of the 4:56 gear ratio. Maybe this is causing the VSS to be inaccurate enough to cause the stumble at closed throttle position? Another weird thing is sometimes my Autometer speedo jumps to half scale when I select reverse. Is reverse doing something to that VSS signal?

Re: stalling when selecting reverse (T56) I think you did. Unfortunately I never have heard of this. How about trying to disconnect the plug with the VSS signal and see what happens as a test?
