what do you need to hook up stock f-bod gauges?
does anyone know what is needed to hook up the factory ls1 gauge cluster? i saw a video awhile back of someone on here with a vette cluster on the seat but i dont remember who it was.

I will be working on wiring/mounting my F-body cluster into my Mustang in the next couple weeks. I'm still looking for a wiring diagram/pinouts for a 98 instrument panel. I guess I will have to go to the dealership to get one.

yeha i have a 68 camaro i put an ls1 in. i have a 01 pcm. i want to try to make the stock gauges work in my dash. but i dont know what pieces (other the gauges themselves) i need to hook the gauges up. the only harness i have is the engine harness, so i dont know where the pcm signals go from the c 230 plug?

no i want gauges that work with the 01 pcm. i just want to know what you have to do to hook them up. i dont have acces to a factory car so i have no way of seeing how its all connected.

Question time...
What are you doing the swap in? If it's an older Gm the 98-02 Gauge cluster is junk to you because the fuel gauge will not work with the older GM sending units. These units have a range of 0-90 Ohms while the sending units in 98-02 Camaros have a range of about 70-240 Ohms. This is one reason I sugested the 97 Gauge cluster as it is the same style and works independantly of the PCM
Pin K of C230 is a serial data wire that runs from the PCM to the gauge cluster. It carries the signal for the speedo, temp gauge, and the fuel level gauge. It would be futile to try to get this to work right in a conversion.

so if i go get an under dash harness , it basically takes the signals from c230 and sends them to the right places (one of wich is the gauges) and with the exception of the fuel gauge (wich im not worrid about right now) essentially all my gauges should work?

its a 68 camaro. and i dont believe it would be futile, that guy vinnie has stock ls1 gauges in has mustang, and all gauges except fuel worked.....

I believe it should take care of all the gauges except the fuel. Of course you will still have to hook up the turn signal indicators, highbeam indicators, seatbelt.....etc lights.

because a 97 cluster (as far as i know) will not work with a 01 pcm?
i may be wrong, but isnt a 97 an lt1? and wouldnt that mean that those gauges would not work?
and to clarify i dont really care what the gauges look like, i just dont have the extra 450 dollars to get the aftermarket gauges. right now i just want to get it running and be able to see whats going on engine wise.

The beauity of the 97 gauge cluster is that it does not get any of it's signals from the PCM except the tach signal. For the tach all you have to do is have the PCM tach signal changed from 2 pulses per rev to four (easy to do when the PCM is tunned). The engine temp, oil pressure, speed, and fuel level signals go straight to the sending units. NO PCM involved.
I am currently running a 97 gauge cluster with my 2002 PCM.

i only spent 15 bucks, and i got an 02 v6 camaro gauge cluster, as well as the plug into the back of the cluster and the diagnostic port plug too. im pretty sure the v6 gauges will work, just 120 speedo instead of 155.
