Default Crank pulley removal?

How did you guys get your crank pulleys off? I can't seem to budge the bolt and I had a 2' 1/2" ratchet plus another 2' pipe on it and I couldn't get it to move!

It is a standard rotation bolt (lefty loosey), no?

It is a standard thread. I use a 30" breaker bar and a home-made tool to hold the pulley in place https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...t=#post4157612. Make sure you have a GOOD puller when you go to take it off.

Wait until you have to put it back on

Its a standard rotation bolt. I use a tool to lock the flywheel in place so it wont move and my big breaker bar to loosen it. Most of the time even my air impact wont do it.

I'm not turning the motor over, I wedged a screwdriver between the frame and pulley, so that wasn't the problem.

The bot just won't come loose...

I have a stroker crank going in the motor, so I'm not really worried about damaging the crank, I just wanted to finish my mockup of everything with the F-body crank on it.. I guess it doesn't matter much...

You just need more leverage. I think the torque spec is about 240ft-lbs so get the biggest breaker bar you can find.

I just used a 1/2 drive about 14 inches long plus another 24 or extension and just got mean with it and it came loose. Didn't damage anything in the process.

I used a 4' pipe on the end of the breaker bar.. You will not have put to much into it with that much leverage! And was easy to get it to 240ft/lb and the 140 Degrees.

Archimedes said he could move the earth with a lever long enough and a place to stand.

You just need more leverage. Mine came loose with a crack and a puff of powder. I used a 3 foot piece of pipe on an 18" breaker bar.

Good impact set on kill with 180 PSI line pressure took my crank bolt off so fast it flew half way across the room. Made a puller attachment out of a 3.4 WP pulley. Piece of cake.
