Need a thousand words
Does anybody have their engine out? I could use some detailed pics (with measurements?)
of the motor mounts for the LS1. Anybody who knows how the C5's tranny
is secured would be my hero, as well. Is it cradled from below? I think it
is, but don't know exactly what the mounts look like.
Thanks in advance if anybody can scrape up any of this info.
measurement between the attaching point of one motor mount to
the frame and the attaching point of the other motor mount to the
frame would be awesome. The distance from a line between those
two points to the transmission crossmember would also be very
helpful. I think it might also help to know the vertical distance
between the motor mounts and the transmission mount. I think
in the case of a transmission supported from beneath, that would
be the top of the crossmember. The easiest way to get that would
probably be from the ground to the motor mount/frame point minus
the distance from the ground to the top of the transmission crossmenber.
I know that's asking a lot, but to get that measurement I would have to
put my car up on ramps on solid level ground, get the measurements,
measure the height of the ramps, try to measure how much the rear springs
compress when the angle of the car changes.... Ick. I don't think there's
any reliable way to get that measurement without the engine out of the car.
I wish I had a scanner. I could sketch out what I'm thinking and then it
would likely make more sense.
With some good pictures, I could probably get the measurements
with a compas and an engineer's scale.
