Default Auto or T56 in 1st Gen?

Well guys, I am the point where I am ready to buy my LS1 drive train. I really want a 6speed, but the autos out of the hole from a dead stop are deadly. But it sure is fun to row the boat - so to speak. Another thing is that I have been able to find LS1/4L60e combos all day long and the T56 combos are lot more expensive. Once again this is going in 67 Camaro. Whatcha think?

TIA,
Jason Carraway

That is all a matter of preference. If you are going to race it in 1/4 miles then you can forget about using the stock clutch. Racing with an automatic is much, much better if you want consistency for say bracket racing. For fun then, hey both methods are that. For street driving, I prefer to row the gears .

Yep. I'm thinking that too. I'm having a hard time deciding. Do i save the $1K and get the auto and regret it later and have to upgrade/swap to a T56, or if I get the auto will I be happy with it? Decisions, decisions.

Im happy with the auto I put in my camaro. Throw a convertor and shift it in there and just wave the 6 speed cars goodbye

Yup, I've driven 10-second A4 cars and they were only half the fun of my 10-second M6 car. Nothing sounds as awesome as banging the gears in a manual car with a racing engine. A4s just flat out bore me.

You can make a manual launch just fine, it just takes a little more suspension tuning and setting.

For a positive on the A4 though, they are much easier to install on a hybrid. No pedal work, no cutting the tranny tunel to relocate the shifter, etc..

I had the same issue, A4 or T56. I'm going with the T56. They are just much more fun to drive.
