Default What am I doing wrong? (LS2 into 67 Firebird)

I got my motor sat in the engine bay but can't get the motor mounts to line up w/o the pass. head hitting the fire wall. I am using factory BBC pedestool mounts and GM rubber mounts. Is this not correct for the S&P Adapters I'm using???

Some one correct me if I'm wrong but is'nt there a few types of BBc mounts? namely "tall and narrow" and "short and wide". If thats correct maybe your running the tall ones and need the shorter mounts? just a thought.

Im sure the first gen guys will chime in with more info but in the mean time try searching for motor mount plate issues.
Here are two threads that might help
https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversions-swaps/472609-lsx-into-67-69-camaro-basics.html
https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...headers+hooker

Im not sure what pedestals the S&P plates are designed to work with but in my experience, when I did the swap using S&P like plates, the engine did not just drop in and line up. I had to relocate the pedestals as needed.

If the heater hoses are the only issue with motor, you can relocate them with a big block heater core and box. It will put the heater hoses in the middle of the heater box.

You should be using the SBC mounts. Also, with the small block heater core, you will have to mod the heater tubes a little. If you have a factory style (Harrison), the tubes are angled towards the pass fender. Pull the core and bend the tubes a little more. If you have a cheap replacement with straight tubes, you need to angle them. May be easier to swap over to the big-block style in that case. We had to bend ours about 20* more to clear.

Big block mounts mounts usually shift the motor to the pass side about an inch for steering box clearance.

I will second the notion that the plates were designed for sbc mounts. Also, don't be afraid to unbolt the frame stands and just bolt them to the motor and drop it in. This will allow you to position the engine exactly where you want it, mark it, then drill new holes to bolt the frame stands down with. Also, on a side note, what intake is that? I have never seen anything like it.

Ah I see I guess since the intake is painted black and so well made it looks like it is made of plastic and thats what had me confused. That is a nice piece though!
