get one with an LS1 and swap in a 6.0. much easier and still more cost effective.

okay well i will try to find one with an ls1, a friend of mine told me that if i got a formula instead of a ws6 or something it would be cheaper on insurance. is that true?? and how hard would it be to swap the ls1 out for a 6.0?

and a 6.0 is a direct swap for an LS1, but the truck intake wont fit under the F body hood. if it's a 01/02 use the intake that was on it. if its a 98-00, get an LS6 intake or F.A.S.T. intake.

Insurance prices vary wildly from person to person, state to state and depending on age and driving record. Call your agent.

Sorry for the late response. Cleaance is perfect if you use the lt1 style air intake.

im in the process of convering my 2001 firebird v6 to a 414 6.0liter based motor and i can tell you right now buy the ls1 car and swap it, i kept mine cause i have a lot of stuff done to it as is and didnt want to loose all of that and start over. getting the motor in is not the hard part the only thing that has to change for it to work is the k member and an ls1 steering rack (v6 one will hit the alt since its mounted lowside) but the wiring aspect of it is quite indepth for any average mechanic and that is on a car built for the ls1, these guys are right you will spend more trying to make one work then getting one that it will work in to begin with

well if you were just gonna put an ls1 in a 98 and up v6 car it wouldnt be as bad i had one guy tell me that if you put the same year pcm and harness in it, its all plug and play that way. but i am not for sure on that one. but if you want to do the 6.0 there is a lot of complementing mods you have to do. you will have to upgrade front shocks to account for the added wieght of the iron block, stronger tranny and rear end to account for the power, bigger injectors and upgraded fuel system. its a lot of nit picky **** that adds up to big money.
