I am also using a 95' Impala tank with a Racetronix/Walbro pump and wiring kit. I make a access panel above the tanks sending unit to clear and give me access should I needed it (and I did two month able when the electrical ground came loose in the tank.)

It does hang done a bit lower, but it has not given me any problem over any speed bumps over the past year that I have been run.

I just checked the caddy fuel sending unit/pump/bucket that I have and the maximum extended tank depth is 9.75" but it can sit in a tank as shallow as 8"
