mine is almost finished. I could give you helpful advise if you want to try this your self. I have seen some 82-92 f-body ls1 cars go from 7000-up even above 12000 when done super clean

I may be selling mine, if i did i'd probably want around 10k for it. 1989 IROC, rust free, all new suspension (koni yellows, aftermarket suspension, etc). 10k miles on it since the swap.

There's a guy on the Boston Craig's List that's been trying to sell one for months now... He's down to $4500 and still no takers....

You're choking that motor with that tpi intake duct....

To the original poster, If you want to try it yourself, I would help as much as I could. I'm in the process of doing this swap myself.

I'm in the same boat as 1987earthquake. I've been working on a swap into my third gen for months now, but because of limited funds, I'm currently stalled. If you try to undertake the swap yourself, there are plenty of people here and thirdgen.org who would be willing to help. Instead of shipping off the whole thing for a swap, you could just farm out parts of the swap such as wiring and whatever else you don't want to tackle yourself.
I don't mean to be negative here, but part of the fun of this hobby is doing things yourself. Seems to me that if you let someone else do the swap, your kinda defeating the purpose. But w/e, that's just how it is for me.

I see your point, but it is a lot cheaper to buy a finished car than do one yourself. I'd love to do a 3rd gen LSx swap, but no way in hell would I start with a roach that needed paint and body work.(when's the last time you saw a 3rd gen that didn't need paint for a resonable sum?) I like turning wrenches but hate body and paint work.

That is a great point. My kit car cost me 20K and I did mine cheaper than most. or more to complete and then later I found some on ebay and elsewhere for 14K

I do think mine is cooler than all the rest though and it is probably couse I worked on it.

I want to do this swap as well, a little at a time for as cheap as possible. But, I want a cheap, black, red, white, or dark blue M5 junker. Has to be an M5. Don't care at all about interior, because I'll tear it all out anyway. I don't care if it has faded paint, spots of primer and dings and small dents as long as it goes down the road without pulling even a hair. I want to use it as a "Dukes of Hazzard" fun car.

EDIT:

My guess is it's a real rust bucket.

Mines for sale for the right price.

I'd buy it just for the parts...lol. It may be a rust bucket, but mine's not. Just needs a T56. Too bad it's a 98 PCM/engine, though.
