With me in it at 195lbs.(2785)

LF – 769, center to fender 12 2/8

RF – 740, c to f 12.0

LR – 654, c to f 12 6/8

RR – 622, c to f 12 4/8

X=50.0 – BETTER THAN STOCK MIATA

Left is 51% - BETTER THAN STOCK MIATA

Rear is 45.8% - WORSE BY 1% THAN STOCK MIATA

These are the weights of my 90 model. ls1/t56.irs8.8/10pt cage.

I'm thinking of selling this car and building another one for the track only, lexan, cut up, etc. This one is a little too nice. Let me know if you need any info.

Here's how it was distributed when the car was stock. I weighed it first so I knew how to best place the weight as it went back together.

With me in it at 195lbs.(2358)

LF – 653

RF – 600

LR – 575

RR – 529

X=50.12%

L=52.07%

R=46.82%

I hope this helps.

I dont have any numbers yet...but im guessing its gonna be well under 2800lbs. More around 2650-2700 without me in the car. I have no AC,ABS,really light seats/wheels, no PS and its an R1 which is lighter than the touring to start out with.

i had a 98 t/a down to 2967 w/o me and it still had a steel hood and stock k member, steel gas tank ect....the f/r wasnt too bad on it either, i think it was 51/49.........you could take a notch mustang and get it down to 2500lbs with a lsx.......i thought the miatas would be lighter than that.....

My rather portly 1935 Ford Tudor smashes the scales to the tune of 3300 pounds. Of course it's all steel and has a fully boxed Fatman frame. The interesting thing is that my LS1 and 4L60E is 25 lbs less than the original all iron 100 hp 239 inch flathead V-8 and three speed trans!!

Robert@SPEEDSOUTH: Try a '99 Miata for your next build, they have better suspension and a much better weight distribution in stock form. We just built one and ended up with 51% front 50.5% cross and 50% side to side.

I have a '85 Celica GTS hatch and with full interior, spare tire, and half a tank of gas it weighed in at 2900lbs. It is now 54% front weight but cross weights are almost perfect (49.7%). I gained 120lbs over the stock 22RE, now it's time to see where I can lose some weight in the front end.

I appreciate the comment, but we actually chose the 90 because they are the lightest and because we knew we would be adding back a good bit of weight with cage, coolers, dry sump, etc. and it would allow us to put it where we needed to. The 2nd gen cars are very similar to the early cars, many parts swap right over, but their chassis is a good bit heavier and the suspension on this car is not stock miata anyway.
