Default BCM Start up

I have a stock 02 corvette engine, harness, dash harness, fuse blocks, pcm flashed out security. Everything is all hooked up using the OEM connections for the whole setup.

I got a bcm module from a different car. Does this need to be matched to Ign Key? Or can it be flashed? I'm getting ready to try and fire it for the first time.

Default Won't crank

I got everything hooked up to the harness the whole setup from the donor C5.

When I crank the key I can hear a few relays in both fuse boxes and click at the TB, it's a drive by wire setup. I have Mil light mocked up and it luminates with the key on. I measure 12 volts at the coils.

I don't hear the pumps prime and no crank with the key in start. I can bump the starter with a screw driver and it turns over. I guess I gotta check the grounds?

Also I couldn't get reading off of the ODB port with hand held tuner?

Keep the BCM and disable VATS. The BCM makes thing much easier than most would think. You can use all the options of a new modern car power locks, have in turn interior lights on and off, use the flasher unit within it, door chimes, ect. You get the idea. Instead of using relays and wiring everything separately you can use a BCM and eliminate a lot of 30-40 year old wiring. I am running a 99 LS1 T56 and plan on using the simplest GM manual trans BCM I can find. I work for easyperformance.com we are a wholesaler. A couple of sponsors here sell our products (Speed Inc, Afterthought Auto, not sure who else). If my set up goes well we hope start selling a kit.

Default odb

I got the ODB port to power up the diablo and grabbed these codes
P1220 Throttle position 1 circuit and P1221 Throttle Performance.

I had to add a ground to the black cable of the ODB connector.

Also I'm trying to fire this on the frame only.

Is it a no crank no start or a crank no start problem? If VATS was removed the ign key shouldn't matter

Default No Crank

At this point it's a no crank issue, Vats has been removed and I'm planning on keeping the BCM.

What did you mean by the ign key doesn't matter?

If VATS has been removed it shouldn't care if the ignition assembly/key are the correct set for the PCM. I would first check to see if when the ignition switch is in the start position that it is out putting anything. Then check to see if that out put(12v signal) is reaching the starter. Hope that makes sense. It's 2:07 here and I just got home from the bar.

Default update on the no crank

Here is what I tried today, I can bump the starter with screwdriver and squirt a little starting fluid and it does fire up and run.

But I still can't get it to turn over with the ignition s/w when I turn it to run I do here the throttle body actuate along with some relays energizing.

My fuel pumps are now plugged in and I have 5v on the blue wire but I don't hear them prime, they have no fuel in them not sure if that matters. I also don't have any fans wired in yet.

Keep in mind I'm running this out of the car on the frame only. I did find 2 more grounds that weren't hooked but same results.

When I try to pull dtc codes I get the following:

Default No Crank

I did have the pcm tuned with VATS disabled, does anyone know if the theft deterrent relay is also bypassed by doing this? Or for that matter what all does having it disabled include?

Default still no crank

I finally got a corvette cluster today and plugged it in. I performed the 3 -10 minutes cycles for the bcm relearn according to the posts regarding this procedure.

When I turn the key to 'on' the DIC displays Pull Key wait 10 Seconds, I did that then Service Steering Column Lock, Reduced Engine power, and Service Engine Soon, I also have check gauges light on? Still doesn't won't crank over.

I tried to pull codes from the dic but I was unable to. I followed the procedure another forum to get codes directly from the cluster? The column and cluster is from an earlier model not sure if that makes a difference? The column is only hooked up electrically.

Any thoughts? TIA

not sure on the vettes but on the fbodys the ignition switch goes to the vats module then to the starter so in reality if you get the bcm programmed it should work. all you need is a tech2.

Default tech 2

Can the Tech 2 program the bcm on what vats key code to use? I can get all 14 keys for like $40 is it worth doing? I don't have a tech 2.
