wiring questions
i am just wondering if anyone has a list of the necessary wires to retain on the factory wiring harness on a 2000 pcm, i am trying to consolidate and use the factory harness, now i know things like fuel tank pressure are not going to be used, and a few others such as egr, rear o2, and some other wires, but things like water temp, just one for example. any input is appreciated, Thanks, Andy

Re: wiring questions
very much so indeed, i am not running a computer controlled fan setup though, it is a stand alone unit, do i still need the cooling fan relay control? i know what tps is but tcs? throttle control solenoid? or what, its been a long damn day, so iprobably will smack myself when you tell me what it stands for, also, the fuel enable circuit from the vats system, my vats has been edited out, still necessary? all gauges auto meter, using their senders, i have a walbro 340 in a stock 88 blazer tank, no splicing. i need this info, its driving me crazy the truck has had a motor and trans in it for 2 1/2 months, all i need to do is radiator hoses, exhaust, wiring, new u-joints, and get a new bypass and pickup for the oil pan, getting very anxious as i could probably get this thing done in less than a month if i had the info, I am very appreciative on the info, especially how fast i received it, thanks, Andy

Re: wiring questions
You don't need the fan relay controls, it's just nice to have the PCM turn the fans on when it wants to. The PCM knows the coolant temps at all times.
TCS is traction control system.
You do need the fuel enable circuit from the VATS system. You can pick up a bypass unit I believe that will trick the PCM into thinking everythign is ok. Without this hooked up though, you'll never get injector pulses.
I run the stock LS1 alternator which is 1 wire as well I believe.. a brown one which is used for voltage regulation. I'm not sure if you will have problems or not.
No problems at all with !AC, !PS. In my conversion, I run no PS, AC, EVAP, EGR, AIR, ABS, TCS, Traction Control,... I only run the necessities. It's weight reduction to me.

Re: wiring questions
can't just hotwire it... I do know there is a VATS delete kit.. I don't know where you can get it but I'm sure someone will chime in here.. or perahps do a search.

Re: wiring questions
SSH, I got the e-mail just been very busy.
in my sig is a link to my web page, then in the left click the V8 swap link.. and there is a link to the pinouts on that page.

Wires removed from 2001 A4 harness for conversion
Okay, checked out my wiring harness conversion and found quite a few wires removed.
2001 LS1 5.7L with 4L60E A4 Transmission
Blue connector....
23 - Low Reference
25 - HO2S Low Signal Bank 2 Sensor 2
28 - HO2S Low Signal Bank 1 Sensor 2
32 - CPP Switch Signal ? what is CPP?
65 - HO2S High Signal Bank 2 Sensor 2
68 - HO2S High Signal Bank 1 Sensor 2
70 - Oil Level Switch Signal
Red Connector....
4 - Air Injection Reaction Solenoid Relay - Coil - Control
13 - Cruise Control Engage Signal
34 - Evaporative Canister Purge Solenoid Control
36 - AIR Pump Relay Control
37 - Cruise Control Inhibit Signal
45 - Evaporative Canister Vent Solenoid Control
46 - MIL Control ? what does MIL stand for?
53 - Ignition Retard Signal
54 - Fuel Level Sensor Signal
64- Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor Signal
I paid good money for this conversion. Everyone else gets this data for free.

You da man Red Heartbeat!! Are these the wires that were removed or the ones that are left?
MIL is the check engine light. (Malfunction Indication Lamp or somthing to that effect)
CCP: Clutch Position (maybe, just guessing)
I have an M6, so there's a few that are going to be different. Do you have EGR, AIR, or TCS hooked up?
Thanks alot,
Matt

wiring harness modification
Those are the wires removed from the PCM connectors. I would leave in the MIL wire. It is nuts to remove the MIL since that is your early warning point for something, possibly the engine, going south.
I will be posting further details later.
