hey guys i have a 99 z28 that was wrecked and i'm trying to sell off the ls1 and t-56 but i'm not quite sure how much to sell them for. i'm trying to get as much as i can for them, they have 105K miles. so far i've had them on craigslist but too many people out here in san diego want stuff cheap and arent willing to pay the extra buck for a strong running engine and trans. cause even at 105K that car hauled some serious ***. must have been a good day at the factory. what do you think?

yeah i recognize that times are tough down here but for example, some a-hole emailed me with an offer for 500 bucks for the entire car and two weeks later offered me 1000 for the entire car, know what i mean? i'm trying to ask 3750 for the pair hoping to get at least 3200 out of it. it's a clean motor, i got it at 83K and now its at 105K, which those are all highway. and the guy who owned it before me in 4 years only put on 9K. but the guy before that i'm not quite sure how he drove it. however, the engine runs like a son of a b and the trans is still bulletproof, u know? but people are offering like 2000 or 1500 for both.

The best prices I've seen are at car show swap meets- my area has lots of shows throughout the year. Particularly at huge shows, like the Good Guy shows, there is always a guy at the show near me who brings a trailer full of ls1/t56 or 4L60E combos staring at 1250 ish for ones with lots of miles. He's had LS2s and I've seen him with LS3s also, but the latter two are pretty rare for him. Thing is, ppl who know how to shop swoop them up before 8 am.
If you want good deals, go to a big show/swap meet stupid early- like when the gates open.

Local here in SoCal Craigslist : http://losangeles.craigslist.org/search/sss?query=ls1
As of now, there's a few for <$2000 for various combos of a LS1/4l60e or engine alone, mileage, etc. I've been watching this at least a few times a week and it has gotten a lot cheaper over the past couple of weeks. Higher supply drives prices down I guess. There was probably 0-1 for sale at any given week about a month ago. Now there's about 3-5.
I bought mine for $2100 for LS1/4L60E, ECU & Harness, all F-Body accesories, and all cylinders compression tested to 180-200ish. If I waited, I could have probably saved more but that's about the price if I was to build a SBC/700R4 combo anyway.
They are becoming much cheaper! Seems like everyone wants the higher LSXs.
Good luck.

Have a buddy of mine selling his LS1 for $2,750 and his T56 for $2k out of an 04 GTO if anyone is interested. Can get both for $4,250. Just a thought. His motor already has cam, springs, retainers, pushrods, etc. installed too.
