Fuel Sender Voltage
to the Datsun fuel guage. So far i have developed a circuit
to convert the signal but i am pretty fuzzy on what the high
and low voltage is for the signal. When i looked in the
service manual it told me that it will throw a code if the
signal voltage is lower that .39V or higher than 2.9V I dont
know what the real operating voltage is? If some one can
check with a voltmeter to see what this signal voltage is
empty and full.
Thanks

Old school are 0-90 ohm (pre 99).. 99+ is 40-240ohm if I recall. Do a search in this forum, there was a good topic on this stuff a few weeks ago.
about what ohm the gas tanks were. I have a 40-240ohm tank
but the computer reads the voltage drop from the variable
resistor in the tank to ground. The supply voltage is 5V
and according to the GM service manual it reads the variace
in voltage through the veriable resistor. This is true
because when i measured the voltage with my tank 1/4 full i
recieved 1.434V (close to my calculations) I am unable to
fill the tank right now cause it isnt completely finished.
To finish the circuit i need to know the voltage when full
and empty to determine the gain of the opamp.
When i am finished i plan to post the circuit for other
conversions, it would be vary usefull for hybrid
applications where people want to use the original fuel
guage.
The circuit is very easy and consists of minamal components. an opamp, power transistor, resistor,
and two pots to very 0 point, and gain. I got a little
tweeking to do but its very close to perfection.

I did this cause i wanted to keep all the gauges original.
