ls1 or lQ9
It will tell you what it came in....
List of Vortec engines
LQ9's have flat top pistons with a 10:1 compression ratio, i think everything else is the same as the LQ4
Basically came in 3/4 ton/bigger trucks/vans/suv's. Some of the trks are actually lq4's. Which is the same with alittle less compression. mine came from an 03 2500HD van. You can use the computer/harness check w/ speartech for all that stuff. They are a sponsor here on ls1tech. Lots of info here on this site...

As far as info goes, definitely keep up with this website and I've found that wikipedia is indeed a helpful and (usually) reliable source.
The Vortec HO 6000 or VortecMAX, technically the LQ9, is a special high-output version of the Vortec 6000 V8 truck engine originally designed for Cadillac. From Memory:
Compression is the only difference. LQ4 is 9.4; LQ9 is 10.1
The 01-04 LQ4's use the same cam as the 02-03 LQ9
The oil pans and front accessories are the same.
If it's a 6 liter with Iron heads, it's an 99-2000 LQ4
If it has a cable throttle body, it's probably an LQ4
Don't know much else, sorry.
